Quartz plates with a frosted (ground/matte) area, printed scale, or surface marking added at a specified position — not just a plain flat plate.
Frosting and printing are added to standard plate stock (see our Quartz Plates line for base dimensions and flatness) — confirm the plate size and finish first, then the pattern layout on top of it.
Available Shapes, Sizes and Surface Options
Base plate is available in the same shapes and surface options as standard Quartz Plates — rectangular or round, as-cut, ground, or polished before frosting or printing is applied.
Frosted Areas, Lines and Surface Patterns
Frosting is a localized matte area or line, ground into an otherwise clear or polished face — used for graduated scales, diffusing windows, or reference marks. Printed marks and scales are applied as a separate marking step after the plate and any frosting are finished. Position of frosted areas and printed marks is measured from the plate edge or a stated datum; specify which face (or both) the pattern goes on, since frosting one side leaves the other clear.
Before shipment we check pattern position, line width, covered area, plate dimensions, edge condition, and mark/frost adhesion or appearance where the process calls for it.

| Controlled Feature | Reference Capability / Requirement |
|---|---|
| Plate Size / Thickness | Finished substrate envelope |
| Frosted Face | Single-side or double-side treatment |
| Abrasive Grade | 240#–1000# reference range selected for diffusion and texture |
| Frosted Area | Full face or localized region with edge exclusion |
| Pattern / Scale | Line width, spacing, origin and orientation from plate datums |
| Marking Method | Printed / engraved / frosted mask according to durability and contrast |
| Ink / Temperature | Ink system and exposure temperature must be reviewed together |
| Optical Result | Target diffusion or transmission stated as a test requirement when it matters |
Choose Texture or Marking by the Required Result
| Treatment | Creates | Best Used For |
|---|---|---|
| Single-side frosted | Diffusion while retaining one smoother face | Light panels and viewing surfaces |
| Double-side frosted | Stronger scattering and reduced direct glare | Diffuse heater and lamp interfaces |
| Printed scale / pattern | High-contrast lines, labels or graphics | Instrument panels and reference plates |
| Engraved or masked mark | More permanent mechanical reference | Alignment, identification and harsh-service markings |
