Quartz ground joints and adapters made to standard taper sizes — the connection pieces that let separately-made quartz components actually assemble into a system.
Joint size is the dimension that matters most — a correctly-made adapter with the wrong joint standard won't seal against your existing glassware. Always confirm joint standard against what you're connecting to, not against a general "standard size" assumption.
Quartz Ground Joints & Adapters: Laboratory Forms and Uses
Ground joints let two separately-fabricated quartz (or quartz-to-glass) components connect and seal without a gasket — the ground surfaces mate directly. Adapters extend that principle to connect different joint sizes, different joint types, or a joint to a plain tube end.
Available Quartz Ground Joints & Adapters Styles
Standard taper joints (a tapered male/female pair) are the most common; ball-and-socket joints allow some angular misalignment while still sealing, useful in assemblies under mechanical stress. Both styles come in standard size series — send the size marked on your existing glassware if you're matching to it.
Quartz Ground-Joint Types and Sizes
Reducing adapters (one joint size to another), angle adapters (elbows, tees), and straight extensions are all made from the same ground-joint principle — tell us the two ends you need to connect and we'll confirm the adapter type. Tube OD on the plain end of an adapter is chosen to match the tubing or component it connects to, not the joint size itself.
Quartz Ground Joints & Adapters Factory Standard & Assembly Limit
The table above is what's repeatable without added lead time. Concentricity between the joint and any attached tube matters most on longer adapters, where a small angular error at the joint becomes a larger offset by the far end. Fabrication is ground-joint machining paired with hot-formed tube or fitting work, welded and fire-polished. Before shipment we check joint fit (taper/ball-socket dimensions), concentricity, angle (for elbow/tee adapters), weld seams, and sealing-surface condition.
