All dimensional entries are in mm except bow. These are formed-stock tolerances, before cold grinding. The published bands follow the stock specification; assign exact boundary diameters to a band in the purchase drawing. Tighter OD/ID values require a separately agreed grinding allowance.

Wall range depends on OD: a 100 mm tube uses 7–12 mm walls; a 1000 mm tube uses 40–60 mm walls. Maximum diameter, wall and length are not simultaneous limits.

Cutting, Straightness and Joining

Formed stock and finished cut parts use different length tolerances. Continuously drawn transparent stock: ±1.0 mm at OD ≤50 mm / ±2.0 mm at OD >50 mm. Rotationally fused opaque stock: ±5.0 mm. Cold-cut finished parts: standard ±0.5 mm; precision ±0.1 mm only where agreed for the finished geometry.

Continuously drawn transparent stock has bow ≤2‰ at OD ≤50 mm; larger diameters follow the 2.5–3‰ bands above. Ovality is an absolute diameter difference measured in mm, not a universal percentage. Ground sealing diameters are quoted separately.

Plain open-ended tubes, closed-end sheaths, ground sealing faces, quartz flanges, side ports and welded branches are supplied to drawing. Transparent stock serves diffusion liners, vacuum viewing sections and process chambers; opaque stock serves radiant-heat shields, furnace insulation and heating enclosures. Material and Temperature Guidelines

Electric-fused / flame-fused quartz: SiO₂ ≥99.99%; synthetic JGS1-grade fused silica: ≥99.999%. Grade and lot certificate govern supplied material.

Transparent quartz: continuous use ≤1100 °C; short-term excursions ≤1200 °C. Opaque / milky quartz: continuous use ≤1000 °C. Load, atmosphere, support span and thermal cycling determine the application limit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the largest tube available?

Rotationally fused opaque / milky tubes reach OD 1000 mm, with 40–60 mm walls at that diameter. Continuously drawn transparent tubes cover OD 2–350 mm; the large transparent heavy-wall series is OD 100–350 mm.

Can I specify ±0.1 mm OD on a large tube?

The as-drawn OD tolerance is ±1.50 mm in the 100–200 mm band and ±2.00 mm in the 200–350 mm band. Precision grinding is a separate finished-part operation, quoted against the drawing.

How are length and bow inspected?
