Sintered quartz filter plates for larger-area filtration or gas diffusion than a round disc covers — selected by pore grade and effective filtration area.
Pore grade and effective filtration area determine flow together — a larger plate at a coarse grade moves far more volume than a small plate at a fine grade, so match plate size to your actual flow requirement, not just to the footprint available.
Porosity Grade and Effective Filtration Area
Effective filtration area is the porous region only — if the plate is framed, the frame itself isn't part of the active area, so specify the porous area you need, not the outer plate dimensions. Grade selection follows the same logic as our Fritted Discs: coarse for flow-priority applications, fine for particle retention or consistent gas diffusion.
Quartz Fritted Plates Functional Standard & Manufacturing Limit
The table above is what's repeatable without added lead time. Flatness across a large fritted plate is harder to hold than on a small one — a plate at the largest L×W range should be confirmed for flatness if it needs to seal against a housing on installation.
Quartz Fritted Plate Forms and Porous Areas
Plates are sintered to size, then either left bare or welded into a frame or housing wall. Before shipment we check outer dimensions, thickness, porous area boundary, flatness, pore grade consistency, and weld condition (framed units).
Plate Flatness and Effective Porous Area Are Separate Requirements
| Controlled Feature | Reference Capability / Requirement |
|---|---|
| Length × Width | 50 × 50 to 200 × 200 mm common square reference range |
| Shape | Square, rectangular, annular or custom outline |
| Thickness | Selected with span, support and differential pressure |
| Porosity Grade | P0–P5 reference classification aligned to ISO 4793 ranges |
| Effective Area | Working porous zone dimensioned independently from the outline |
| Flatness | Specified where the plate seats or distributes flow |
| Edge | Plain, ground or prepared for frame integration |
| Material | High-purity quartz frit material |
P0–P5 Reference Ranges
| Grade | Reference Pore Range | Selection Direction |
|---|---|---|
| P0 | 160–250 µm | Coarse distribution / support |
| P1 | 100–160 µm | Coarse filtration or gas dispersion |
| P2 | 40–90 µm | Medium filtration |
| P3 | 16–40 µm | Fine filtration or dispersion |
| P4 | 10–16 µm | Fine porous element |
| P5 | 1–1.6 µm | Very fine reference grade |
