Sintered porous quartz rods for gas diffusion or immersed filtration — where a rod shape fits the vessel geometry better than a flat disc or plate.
Quartz Fritted Rods for Filtration and Gas Diffusion
A fritted rod is porous quartz shaped as a cylinder rather than a disc — used for gas sparging (bubbling gas through a liquid via a diffuser rod) or immersed filtration where a rod reaches into a vessel more conveniently than a flat frit at the bottom.
Available Quartz Fritted Rods Forms
Rods are supplied plain (for your own end fitting) or pre-fused to a feed tube for direct connection to a gas or fluid line. Tell us which you need — a plain rod's end finish differs from one prepared for fusion welding.
Quartz Frit Rod Sizes and Porosity
Pore grade selection follows the same logic as our other fritted products: coarser grades pass more gas volume with larger bubbles, finer grades produce smaller, more uniform bubbles at higher flow resistance. Diameter and length are chosen based on your vessel depth and the diffusion area needed — a longer rod at a given pore grade diffuses gas over more depth. Fabrication is sintered rod stock cut to length, connected to a feed tube by fusion welding where specified. Before shipment we check diameter, length, pore grade consistency, end condition, and weld point (where fused to a tube).
Rod Diameter, Active Length and Pore Grade Define the Flow Path

|---|---|
| Diameter | Ø6–20 mm common quotation range |
| Length | 100–500 mm common quotation range |
| Porosity Grade | P0–P5 reference classification aligned to ISO 4793 ranges |
| Active Length | Porous section separated from any solid connection end |
| End | Plain, ground-joint, threaded adapter or welded tube end |
| Flow Direction | Radial or axial flow stated for assembly review |
| Material | High-purity quartz frit material |
| Integration | Stem, joint or vessel interface defined with the rod |
P0–P5 Reference Ranges
| Grade | Reference Pore Range | Selection Direction |
|---|---|---|
| P0 | 160–250 µm | Coarse distribution / support |
| P1 | 100–160 µm | Coarse filtration or gas dispersion |
| P2 | 40–90 µm | Medium filtration |
| P3 | 16–40 µm | Fine filtration or dispersion |
| P4 | 10–16 µm | Fine porous element |
| P5 | 1–1.6 µm | Very fine reference grade |
