Quartz nozzles machined to a defined inlet, taper, and orifice — where the flow path geometry is the actual function, not just an OD and length.
Inlet size, taper angle, and orifice diameter are one coupled flow path, not separate dimensions — a given taper angle and length fixes the relationship between inlet and orifice size, so you can't specify all three independently. Confirm which two are fixed by your process and let the third follow.
Quartz Nozzle Tip and Orifice Designs
Nozzles are drawn from tube or capillary blank stock down to a tapered tip, then cut and finished at the orifice. Orifice diameter is the dimension most often pushed to its limit — a very fine orifice narrows the achievable concentricity and increases sensitivity to any asymmetry in the taper.
Quartz Nozzles Factory Standard & Manufacturing Limit
The table above is what's repeatable without added lead time. Minimum orifice and tightest concentricity aren't both available at once — the finer the orifice, the more that constrains how precisely it can be centered on the inlet axis. Flag which matters more for your application.
Taper, Flow Path and Concentricity
Concentricity between the orifice and the inlet axis determines whether flow exits straight or at an angle — a nozzle can hit its orifice diameter spec and still misdirect flow if the taper isn't centered. Where the orifice is drilled rather than drawn to size, mechanical or diamond drilling holds openings down to about Ø0.8 mm at ±0.02 mm. Before shipment we check inlet dimensions, taper, orifice diameter, concentricity, overall length, and tip condition.
Orifice, Taper and Concentricity Define the Nozzle Function
| Controlled Feature | Reference Capability / Requirement |
|---|---|
| Outlet Orifice | Laser-machined reference down to Ø0.1 mm where geometry permits |
| Orifice Tolerance | ±0.02 mm industry-reference level |
| Hole Count | Single or multiple outlets located by drawing |
| Inlet OD / ID | Matched to tube, fitting or process line |
| Taper / Tip | Angle, tip OD and tip length dimensioned together |
| Concentricity | Outlet referenced to the inlet flow axis where required |
| Interface | Plain tube, ground joint or specified thread adapter |
| Spray Requirement | Angle or pattern treated as a system requirement and confirmed with the flow conditions |
Specify the Fluid and Flow Conditions with the Geometry
| Type | Geometry | Required Process Data |
|---|---|---|
| Straight orifice | Axial hole through a formed tip | Fluid, pressure and flow target |
| Tapered nozzle | Converging internal path | Inlet, orifice and taper |
| Multi-hole nozzle | Pattern of controlled outlets | Hole count, spacing and direction |
| Atomizing nozzle | Orifice and spray geometry by drawing | Fluid, gas assist and spray target |
