Quartz crucibles sized by capacity and wall geometry for melting, holding, or thermal processing — not just a generic cup shape.
Capacity isn't specified independently — it follows from OD/L×W, height, and wall thickness together, so send those dimensions rather than a target volume alone.
Wall, Bottom and Rim Design
Wall thickness affects both thermal shock resistance and how evenly heat reaches the contents — a thick wall resists cracking under rapid temperature change but responds more slowly to heating. Bottom geometry (flat, rounded, or conical) is chosen based on what's inside and how it needs to be removed or poured; a conical or rounded bottom often empties more completely than a flat one. Rim design — plain, rolled for strength, or shaped into a pouring lip — depends on how the crucible is handled.
Quartz Crucibles Size / Capacity / Joint Standard
Size is usually set by target capacity plus a margin for the material's expansion or foaming during heating — don't size a crucible to exactly your material volume. If your crucible needs a ground joint or lid to seal against contamination or atmosphere, tell us the joint standard your equipment uses. Fabrication is hot-formed from tube or plate stock, cut to height, and the rim fire-polished. Before shipment we check dimensions, wall thickness, bottom thickness, rim condition, and appearance (cracks, bubbles).
Capacity, Wall Section and Bottom Geometry Control Crucible Selection
| Controlled Feature | Reference Capability / Requirement |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 1.5–250 mL reference series; custom size by drawing |
| Outside Diameter × Height | Finished envelope matched to furnace or sample holder |
| Wall Thickness | Specified separately from the bottom section |
| Bottom Thickness / Shape | Flat, rounded or reinforced according to heating and support |
| Rim | Plain, rolled, flanged or lid-matched |
| Material Form | Transparent fused quartz or opaque / milky arc-fused quartz where appropriate |
| Lid | Loose, fitted or handled lid defined with the body |
| Capacity Tolerance | ±5% industry-reference level unless a calibrated volume is required |
