Quartz pump cavity bodies bored for a laser rod and flashlamp side by side, with the bore geometry and reflective surface that actually determine pump coupling — not just an outer cylinder.
Rod bore, lamp bore, and their parallelism to each other and to the outer OD aren't independent — a cavity can hit both bore diameters individually and still misalign the pump geometry if parallelism isn't held between them. Specify all three together.
Rod Bore, Lamp Bore and Cavity Geometry
The rod and lamp bores run the length of the cavity, parallel to each other and to the outer surface. Bore diameter is sized to the rod and lamp OD with a small working clearance — send both diameters, not just the cavity's outer size. Where a single-bore or multi-lamp configuration is needed instead of the standard two-bore layout, tell us the configuration up front, since it changes how concentricity is checked.
Quartz Laser Pump Cavities Factory Standard & Manufacturing Limit
The table above is what's repeatable without added lead time. Bore parallelism and position are the figures most likely to need confirmation at the tightest end — a long cavity holds parallelism less easily than a short one at the same bore diameter.
Laser Pump Cavity Bore Configurations
Reflective surface treatment (diffuse frosting on the outer wall, to redirect lamp light into the rod) is standard; specular coating is available where our current coating capability supports it — confirm before assuming it's included. Before shipment we check bore diameters, bore-to-bore spacing, concentricity/parallelism, overall length, end-face condition, and surface finish.
Specify the Rod, Lamp and Cooling Interfaces Together
| Controlled Feature | Reference Capability / Requirement |
|---|---|
| Cavity Construction | Monolithic multi-bore body or assembled optical cavity, selected from the laser architecture |
| Rod Bore | Diameter, fit and datum specified from the laser-rod envelope |
| Lamp Bore | Diameter and count defined for the flashlamp arrangement |
| Bore Spacing | Center distance and positional relationship controlled as one optical geometry |
| Bore Parallelism | Specified where rod-to-lamp alignment affects pumping uniformity |
| Internal Surface | Polished, diffuse-reflective, gold-coated or silver-coated as required |
| Cooling Interface | Port position, tube connection and sealed flow path defined by drawing |
| End Faces | Ground or polished according to sealing and optical access requirements |
Match the Internal Surface to the Pump Architecture
| Configuration | Optical Function | Drawing Inputs |
|---|---|---|
| Diffuse Quartz | Broad internal scattering without a metal reflector layer | Bore layout, active length, surface zone |
| Gold-Coated | Reflective cavity option for wavelength and thermal conditions defined by the system | Coated area, masking, cooling exposure |
| Silver-Coated | Alternative reflective finish where the optical design calls for silver | Coated area, protection and interface details |
| Flow-Tube Assembly | Quartz body combined with a defined coolant path | Ports, seals, pressure responsibility and assembly drawing |
