Quartz sleeves and protective sheaths for thermocouples, heating elements, and probes — closed at one end, sized to fit around what they're protecting.
ID, wall thickness, and closed-end thickness are quoted together — a sleeve's closed end is usually thicker than the side wall for durability, so specify both rather than assuming the end matches the wall spec.
Quartz Sleeves & Sheaths Factory Standard & Manufacturing Limit
Sleeves protect a probe, element, or sensor from direct contact with a process environment while quartz's chemical resistance and temperature tolerance do the protecting. ID is sized to the OD of whatever goes inside, plus enough clearance for insertion and removal — send the inserted component's OD, not just a target ID.
Open-End, Closed-End and Protective Tip Designs
Closed-end (one end sealed, dome or flat) is standard for probe protection; open-both-ends is used where the sleeve is more of a liner than a protective cap. Side holes, where needed for wiring or venting, are added by mechanical or diamond drilling. Ends are ground and fire-polished; before shipment we check ID/OD, length, wall thickness, closed-end thickness, concentricity, and end condition.
ID, Wall and Closed-End Geometry Control the Protected Component
| Controlled Feature | Reference Capability / Requirement |
|---|---|
| OD / ID / Length | All three dimensions stated from the lamp, sensor or heater envelope |
| UV Sleeve Reference | OD 20–30 mm and length 300–1700 mm common industry range |
| ID Tolerance | ±0.1 mm quotation reference where insertion clearance is critical |
| Wall Thickness | Specified with span, handling and optical / thermal function |
| End | Open, flat closed or domed closed end |
| Closed-End Thickness | Dimensioned separately from the tube wall |
| Side Features | Holes, slots, flange or mounting collar by drawing |
| Material | JGS2 transparent or milky quartz according to transmission and heating function |
Start from the Protected Part and Mounting Interface
| Application | Reference Geometry | Critical Inputs |
|---|---|---|
| UV lamp sleeve | OD 20–30 × L 300–1700 mm reference | Lamp OD, seals and transmission |
| Thermocouple sheath | ID and closed end by sensor | Insertion depth and tip shape |
| Heater cover | Tube or formed envelope | Hot zone, mounting and material |
| Custom protection tube | By drawing | Clearance, end and side features |

Grade-Qualified Material Purity
Electric-fused / flame-fused quartz: SiO₂ ≥99.99%; synthetic JGS1-grade fused silica: ≥99.999%. Grade and lot certificate govern supplied material.
Formed Stock versus Cold-Cut Dimensions
Formed stock and finished cut parts use different length tolerances. Continuously drawn transparent stock: ±1.0 mm at OD ≤50 mm / ±2.0 mm at OD >50 mm. Rotationally fused opaque stock: ±5.0 mm. Cold-cut finished parts: standard ±0.5 mm; precision ±0.1 mm only where agreed for the finished geometry.
