Quartz cuvettes built around optical path length and window quality — the specs that actually determine measurement accuracy, not just internal volume.
Path length, window flatness, and parallelism define measurement accuracy together — a cuvette can be the right path length and still introduce error if the windows aren't parallel, since that changes the effective path length across the beam.
Optical Windows and Surface Requirements
Only the two windows in the optical path need the tightest flatness and parallelism spec — side walls not in the beam path can be functional-grade rather than optical-grade, which keeps cost down on larger or custom cuvettes. Surface quality (scratch-dig) matters most on the windows; scattered light from a scratched window shows up directly as measurement noise.
Quartz Cuvettes Factory Standard & Manufacturing Limit
Standard path lengths (1/2/5/10 mm) are the most repeatable without added lead time; custom path lengths are available but confirmed per order, since internal geometry has to be rebuilt around the new dimension, not just scaled. Parallelism is the figure most likely to need confirmation at the tightest end.
Quartz Cuvette Path Length and Cell Geometry
Internal chamber dimensions are set by path length and target sample volume together — a smaller sample volume at a fixed path length means a narrower internal width, which affects how much liquid is needed to fully cover the beam. Fabrication is precision plate cutting and polishing, then hot-welded or optically bonded into the cell body, with ports added where stirring or flow-through is needed. Before shipment we check path length, internal dimensions, window parallelism/surface, leak integrity, and overall form.
